information regarding the various projects that Community Links
West Dunbartonshire are involved with.
Streetlinks
Background
Information
Streetlinks
was established in October 2004. Following the demand highlighted
by the Dalmuir Film Crew pilot, which was developed by three local
Housing Associations, Link, Trafalgar and Dalmuir, the pilot demonstrated
the significant number of target group of young people for whom
centre-based, mainstream activities are neither appealing, or appropriate.
Following the success of the pilot project the Better Neighbourhood
Services Fund (BNSF) gave Community Links West Dunbartonshire £120,000
to deliver a one year Detached Youth Project in West Dunbartonshire.
Streetlinks'
primary aim is to identify and address the needs of 12-20 year old
young people in SIP and related area in West Dunbartonshire who
are not currently accessing services or are in need of support.
The main objectives of the project are to identify and work with
Young People in areas they feel secure and regularly meet.
As a detached outreach project, it will conduct the majority of
its work on the streets signposting young people to as many partner
agencies as possible that will provide information, support, advice
and training.
Where appropriate
and only when a group of individuals make requests that they want
to move on individually or collectively the outreach staff may work
with the young people involving them in group work, and outdoor
training involving partner agencies prior to handling the young
person/group over to a more appropriate organisation.

CLWD
Standard Activities
Business
Plan
Over
the past 3 months CLWD have been undergoing a detailed business
planning process with the view to moving to a longer term funding
strategy linked to the creation of three year Wider Role Strategy
& Evaluation Funding Plans (WRSEFP) for each individual RSL.
It is anticipated that this will allow CLWD to secure three year
funding agreements with each partner and remove the dubiety that
short term funding arrangements can create. Each three year WRSEFP
will be included within the business plan of CLWD to demonstrate
what projects will be delivered by the staff each year. The CLWD
business plan is almost complete but cannot be finalised until each
WRSEFP has been agreed with every RSL partner. Draft Business plan
almost complete.
Client
Survey
In
general the latest client survey was very informative and positive
in its feedback. Generally the organisation is performing well and
areas where it is not perceived to be performing so well are areas
that the organisation have in the last year, been trying to resolve,
in particular how CLWD communicates with its clients and feedbacks
to its clients. Aspects which have went well included, identifying
funding, working in partnership with other organisations, planning
a wider role strategy, having relevant staff expertise and getting
value for money.
Clydebank
South Supported Tenancy Options
This
is a piece of work identifying the demand for some kind of support
provision for young people being offered their first tenancy. The
work will also highlight potential ways that future support could
be provided/co-ordinated. Report to be completed in early August.
Right
Time Right Place
Using
money from Homepoint and West Dunbartonshire Partnership CLWD has
previously written two information and advice booklets for first
time tenants. There has been input from three groups of young people,
CLWD housing officers and homeless strategy officers at WDC to create
the booklets. We are currently waiting on final graphics and printer
proofs before circulating these booklets to all member RSL's. Final
drafts received, prior to finalising content for accuracy.
